Dr. Hsia earns Fellowship status in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists

Congratulations to Dr. Sean Hsia for being awarded Fellowship status by the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI).

Gaining this fellowship was no easy task. Dr. Hsia attended more than 200 hours of continuing implant education courses, provided documentation of a number of successful implant cases, and provided a letter of recommendation from a current ICOI member. Dr. Hsia has spent a lot of time and effort to gain this award to benefit our patients.

The awarding of Fellowship status is an honor which a professional society such as the ICOI bestows on a dental professional involved in dental implant treatment.  The ICOI has a Fellowship program in which active members are encouraged to achieve Fellowship status through their efforts in education, research and actual clinical experience.  All Fellows of the ICOI may choose to list the designation  “FICOI” after their names.  Visit www.icoi.org for more information.

Single Appointment Crowns

One of the most exciting breakthroughs in modern dentistry is the use of computer assisted technology to manufacture porcelain ceramic crowns. At Summer Smiles, we are proud to offer our patients with the latest technology and patient comfort/convenience.

A CEREC crown can be completed in a single appointment, rather than the multiple appointments required with previous techniques. This also reduces the number of local anesthetic injections needed.

The first step in preparing a tooth for a CEREC crown is to file and shape the tooth. Next an impression is taken digitally with a camera. The camera sends a 3-D optical image of the prepared tooth to the computer.  Dr. Hsia then uses the computer’s CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Manufacture) technology to design the crown and its specifications are sent to a milling machine. The milling machine under computer control carves the actual restoration out of an extremely hard ceramic block using diamond coated instruments. The crown is then placed in your mouth and checked for fit, contacts, occlusion and appearance. If everything is acceptable; the crown will be bonded to your tooth....all in one appointment!

New Generation of Patient Care, 3D

We want our patients to receive the best dental care possible, that’s why we invested in the latest technology in dental diagnostics, with the Sirona ORTHOPHOS XG 3D Dental Cone Beam solution. “It’s very comprehensive, conventional images taken in most dental offices are two-dimensional. We’re seeing things we couldn’t see before.” 3D images make the X-ray diagnosis and treatments safer, more predictable and faster. Whether you are an existing patient or a new patient, we look forward having you experience a new level of dentistry.

You are soooo Beautiful

If you haven't seen us lately, we have a new light fixture.  It's so mesmorizing and beautiful, it's beyond words.  It's hard not to stare at it and admire it's beauty all day.  Dr. Hsia on the other hand continues to obsess over his fish tank... which truth be told, you can appreciate it so much more at night vs. daytime [since the daylight washes out the colors of the fishtank].

What do you think?

A women's touch...

After nearly one year of whining and complaining, Dr. Hsia has finally gave in... the office is no longer bare white walls, but has a touch of pesonality and femininity.   This week, when you walk into the office [okay, more like hopefully by this friday], you will find colors on the wall, a new coffee table, a new shiny light fixture, and the girls in the office with a smile from chin to chin for their accomplishments.   Come check us out and judge for yourself.

sneak peak at the frame wall, will be adding photos in them.... stay tuned
